"BurnLounge, the world’s first community-powered digital music service, is looking for an Editorial Intern to work around 20 hours a week in our SoHo, Manhattan offices. Responsibilities include copy-editing and writing a variety of pieces for advertisements, products and websites.
The first must for this job: Writing and editing skills. You must love the English language and guard it with your life: vocabulary, syntax, grammar, punctuation and all. You must be familiar with AP Style. You must be able to work fast, and accurately. You must be able to whip out copy that grabs, is easy to read, and gets the point across. You must be a reporter at heart, and have the ability to hear a concept, “get it,” and then write about it.
The second must for this job: Ambition. This is an unpaid position at a small company, but one that carries with it a real opportunity for growth. You have to be willing to work hard for that future.
The third and last must for this job: Be a people person. We have a really good team here of real human beings. You be one too.
Submissions online must include sparkling cover letter, resume, and absolutely, at the very least, TWO good writing samples. Please do not send links… we don’t have the time to go through them. Simple text will do fine."
Ah yes. Ambition and no pay, two words that go very well together.Good luck finding that.

“Please do not send links… we don’t have the time to go through them.”
And I don’t have the time–20 hours a week worth–to donate, either. Not unless you’re a non-profit organization whose important, unselfish cause I believe in. Digital music doesn’t qualify.

As intern ads go, this one wasn’t that bad…but it wasn’t great, either. :/

Well, the thing is, if you want someone to work for free, you don’t get all snippy and bossy and demanding. They’re doing you a FAVOR if they decide to donate 20 hours a week to your business. People who post intern ads should keep that in mind.
Just sayin’
